I have analyzed games in notebooks since I was a kid:
What I liked, what I didn’t like, how I would improve a game.
I did this for Vicarious Visions‘ Spider-Man 2 for Nintendo DS, and it helped me earn a design co-op position there. I was assigned to work on a Spider-Man game when I was hired!
Spider-Man 2 was a launch title for the Nintendo DS.
It pioneered a 3D side-scrolling engine on the system.

In an ideal world, I would fix some design choices in the game.
Spider-Man tends to get hurt, and also knocked off of buildings by enemies. If I have to climb back up, maybe I could lose less health?
I also shared ideas for touch screen web slinging on the Nintendo DS.
When I was hired, I was told that my ideas were very similar to concepts they had in mind for the next game!
A new Spider-Man game just released on PlayStation 4.
At some point I’m sure I’ll play it, and have opinions on it!
